The New Mexico Cattle Growers’ Association Promotion and Marketing committee is excited to announce an opportunity for the youth of New Mexico. This year they will be awarding the “NMCGA Heritage Buckle” at all 33 county fairs. Award winners will receive a buckle and a one year youth membership to NMCGA.
Contest Rules:
Must be between age 9 and 21 years old
Essay must be 200 to 500 words explaining the “Value that you place on the Heritage of the cattle industry and ranching in New Mexico.”
Deadline: All Essays MUST be received in the NMCGA office NO LATER than
July 20, 2021 for Eddy, Rio Arriba, Chaves, Sandoval, Dona Ana, Bernalillo, Santa Fe, Harding, Guadalupe and Lea Counties
August 1, 2021 for Colfax, Valencia, Lincoln, Torrance, Union, De Baca, Mora/San Miguel, San Juan, Curry and Quay Counties
August 15, 2021 for Roosevelt, Catron, Hidalgo, Taos, Socorro and Bi-County – Cibola and McKinley Counties
September 1, 2021 for Grant, Otero, Luna and Sierra Counties

Any essay received may be used by NMCGA for publication.
NMCGA board members along with county fair board members and the sponsor will determine the recipient.
Buckles and 1 year membership will be award at your county fair. Winners are automatically entered in the overall state winner contest.
We will determine the winners through an essay written on the Heritage of ranching in New Mexico.
